Let's get together and do a series of lightning talks to get some inspiration from each other and to get people talking. We are looking for people to sign up for talks. Talk should be no more than 5 minutes on a topic (related to Django) that you feel other people could benefit from. Are you using a new library? Did write something you are proud of? Do you have an approach or some tips on a topic to share? Sign up! If you are interested, post the topic you want to discuss in the comments.
CONFIRMED SPEAKERS: (In no particular order)
Matthew Makai - What's coming in Django 1.4
Ross Karchner - Integrating EC2 + Github
Chris Adams - monitoring work w/ Graphite & Sentry
Praveen Gollakota - Django-Chartit
Ariel Nunez - Multilingual sites
Ben Lopatin - fixture generators
Lee Trout - Django-zebra for stripe
I think a Django 1.4 lighting talk would be awesome. I'd be happy to share some experience with developing multilingual sites and with testing fixtures (including fixture generators).
I can talk about the django app I wrote for CFPB that integrates EC2, Github Enterprise, and Fabric to allow staff to spin-up (and configure) development servers. I wrote a bit about it here: http://karchner.com/2012/01/11/github-ec2-integration-opp...![]()

Multilingual sites and integration with EC2/Github/Fabric sounds great to me. I'd be interested in hearing longer talks on them as well if that's a future option
Matthew: +1 on Django 1.4.
Ariel: I'm +1 on multilingual and could compare with how we've been tackling similar problems.
I can talk about the monitoring work I've been doing using Graphite and Sentry
Chris, Graphite and Sentry sound like great topics, individually or together
Please correct if the following is incorrect... sounds like we have..
Matthew Makai - What's coming in Django 1.4
Ben Lopatin - Sharing experiences w/ developing multilingual sites & w/ testing fixtures. (Ben - is this one talk or two? - Just want to make sure that I have this down correctly.)
Ross Karchner - Integrating EC2 + Github
Chris Adams - monitoring work w/ Graphite & Sentry
@Matthew
RE: Longer talks, may we can turn some of these into future meet ups if there is enough interest. :-)
Heh, seems like I used the wrong comment window to suggest Translations and here Ben beat me to it :)
I could also do a lightning talk about Debian Packaging for Django projects. Or perhaps about 'On the fly' Dynamic Django Model creation (and registration in the Admin) using Shapefiles and the GeoAdmin as an example. Is there appetite for any of those two?
Actually, my suggestions were two talks. Unless you'd prefer to do one of those other talks, Ariel, I'll do a lightning talk on fixture generators.
Sounds like a great idea! Ben, I like the idea of Fixture generators. I would also like to talk about Django-Chartit.

@Praveen - i am going to put you down for Django-Chartit.
@Ben & @Ariel - Can you clarify, which talks you are going to do. I am confused. :-)
Presuming Ariel is presenting on developing multilingual projects and I'm going to talk about fixture generators.
Yeah, I will be presenting on multilingual as originally planned :) Thanks Ben.
@Ariel, @Ben thank you for confirming. I will add you to the list.
